SilverFast not an option in Photoshop CS
I just upgraded to Photoshop CS and was unhappy to find no SilverFast listing as an option for my Epson 3200 scanner. The only way I can use SilverFast seems to be to revert to the old Photoshop version or scan from the stand alone Silverfast Launcher, save as a tiff file and then open it in Photoshop CS. Very disappointing! Any thoughts? I already tried reinstalling the latest version of SilverFast with no change. My scanner is usable directly in Photoshop CS but only with the Epson scanning software which I don't like nearly as well as SilverFast!

Marge,
There are 2 ways to fix this:
1.
Assuming that you're using a PC,
copy the following directory (Import-Export):
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Plug-Ins\Import-Export
to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS-8.0???\Plug-Ins\Import-Export
where the bold red font is the directory where CS is located. Not having CS yet myself, I'm not sure of the name.
After doing that, close Photoshop CS (if open) and relaunch. Silverfast should be available as normal.
2.
In Photoshop CS, goto Edit>Preferences>Plug-Ins & Scratch Disks...
Check the "Additional Plug-Ins Directory" checkbox
Click on the "Choose..." button
Navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Plug-Ins
Click OK.
Now ALL of your old plug-ins will be migrated to CS. The only problem with this approach is that if you uninstall Photoshop (7 or previous) you will lose these plug-ins.
Also, you may need to enter a "Legacy Photoshop Serial Number" in the same Edit>Preferences>Plug-Ins & Scratch Disks... menu to get some of your old plug-ins to work.
Hope this helps, if not please reply and I and the other forum regulars will see if we can help you.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! That solved my problems. How would we function without forums like this?!
