SCSI and Apple System Profiler.
I'm getting very jagged edges in photos even at high resolutions, and I'm wondering if this could be SCSI related. I notice that in the Jaguar system profiler under scsi, it shows all 7 spaces as being occupied by my linotype scanner. And in Silverfast, under "Device" my one scanner is listed many times. Is this normal?

Dear " choifoto" -
It is not normal, that your linotype scanner occupies 7 spaces of your scsi. This belogs to the old firmware of your scanner, but will not effect Photoshop or SilverFast. You mention some other problem with your scanner and SilverFast ?? Please explain this problem and we will take care of it.
with regards
Christoph

See "Getting Jaggies in Photos" in the Imaging in General forum. I have been contacting Thomas Belli about this problem, but he and I haven't been able to solve the problem. I will attach a couple of emails that we exchanged: Thomas Belli: "Looking at the image you sent us tells me that the motor moving the CCD jumps every 5 lines because some information seems to be missing in the image. But these jumps seem to be smaller than a pixel. It looks like a harware problem." Next day: "We tested the plug-in and found an issue under OSX: some stripes appear at low scan resolution. However there was no problem under OS9. Can you use SilverFast under OS9 until the problem is solved ? There should be no problem."
