Kodak Imaging Twain problem

Hi,
I am using Silverfast AI with Microtek 9800XL scanner under WIN2000.
I have written a VB program that incorporates the Kodak imaging software included with WIN2000 that scans articles for inspection purposes.
When using the Silverfast interface the scans work fine and scans to file nicely. When Kodak imaging calls up the Silverfast it locks and crashes both silverfast and kodak problems.
This does not happen on old versions(6.2...) of silverfast but happens on newer versions(6.4...).
The scanner is incorporated into a machine so I purchase new scanners on an ongoing basis and this problem has only just started with these new versions Silverfast. Please help.
