epson scanners plus vista plus sf ai

Postby antoine.brisebard » Wed Oct 31, 2007 6:23 pm

one of the developers gave a good hint to make epson scanners work with sf under vista:

open services console (start-run-services.msc); look up "windows automatic picture acquire" -translated from german vista; maybe someone can post international name ;-)-; end service; set service to "manuell".

now my epson 4180 runs flawless under v.32 and sf ai.

regards - antoine

Dear antoine,
this obviously is still an interims solution, we are still talking with Eppson to find a better way for everyone....

an interim solution-better than your non-existing one

dear nils,

indeed - that's an interim, working solution.
if i'd waited for a software-update by your company - i'd be without scanning possibility for more one year!

your uncertain hint about supporting epson 4180 plus vista in undefined future is a shoddy trick to calm down users not being able to use your software with their scanners.

let's make a bet: sf ai 6.5xxx will never support epson 4180 plus vista32! (i'm not talking of a costly upgrade originally announced as a free update - remember the rumble when changing to 6.5 was changed to a costly upgrade)

concerning the bet: i prefer pizza confuso.

Dear guenther,
actually i do love betting but thats a private thing :-)

Seriously:
We / I do not know when or if this will happen, but if it will happen it will not be a cosly update ( i would be willing to take a bet about that ).

As for the "shoddy trick" remark:
No, its not, but there are things where we only CAN be uncertain, sorry about that.

Best regards,

Nils Heidorn
