Epson 3200 scanner and PS7 initializing problems

The program worked well last evening however today whenever I try and start up SF AI6 either as the PS7 plug in OR the SF AI launcher the program begins..searches for the scanner..begins initializing and then Windows tells me that I have a problem and PS7 or the launcher must be shut down.
Any ideas?
