What is the correct ICM settings for use with NegaFix?
What is the correct ICM settings for use with NegaFix?
What are the correct ICM settings for use with Color Negatives and NegaFix? Clearly NegaFix outputs the image in a particular color space and if you let that go into the wrong Internal Color space, like PhotoPro, the colors are excessively distorted. There is no ICM documentation with the NegaFix documentation so without this information I'm unable to scan negatives. Please advise!

Hi there,
NegaFix uses its own CMS settings, you can use the AdobeRGB and leave the rest to NegaFix.
Cheers

Can use AdobeRGB or MUST use AdobeRGB?
The problem is that the "Input" makes no difference, however, changing the "Internal" profile makes a huge difference and it should not. It looks as if NegaFix dumps the scan data directly into the Internal color space so the "Internal" setting determines how the scan data is interpreted. If I use a small gamut profile like sRGB for "Internal" then the image has saturation that is not to bad and color is kind of ok. If I use a wide profile for "Internal" then the scan image is way over saturated and the color hues are way off. Usually the Input profile would translate the image data to the internal color space but that does not look like whats happening here. Normally you would set the input color space to the color space that NegaFix thinks its outputting, but the Input profile makes no difference in this case. It acts like the is no input translation and the image data lands in the internal color space without correction and then is interpreted completely incorrectly by the setting of the "Internal" profile. I don't know if my software is broken of if this is by design?

Hi tlum
Actually after some research, you must leave AdobeRGB as the standard rgb value. NegaFix profiles were created using AdobeRGB.
There is no color matching for NegaFix, if you choose another RGB profile it will be randomly converted.
Kind regards

Hello LSI_Morales!
Wow, that is quite an important piece of information. Thanks!
If this isn't mentioned in the manual yet (I just checked and couldn't find it), could you please add a note informing the user of this fact?
This could save many people a lot of frustration (for instance, I used to work with a different colour profile until I read your post).
Thanks!

Hi there
IMPORTANT.
We have added color matching to our latest version of SilverFast 8 for NegaFix. This allows you now to set a target RGB profile and will be internally converted. You should not however forget all NegaFix profiles have been created in Adobe RGB profile.
Kind regards
