Negafix: persistent colour cast?

Postby orothe » Tue Oct 11, 2005 2:40 pm

Hi,

I wonder whether I am doing anything wrong. Regardless of which film profile
I use, I always get a more or less green/blue-green colour cast when I scan a
negative which I then have to correct within the application.

The question is why is this so? Should the Negafix profiles not
correct for any colour cast (at least in the standard daylight situation)?

Regards,
Oliver

Dear Oliver

is there a Negafix profile available for your film material?
You will find a complete list of the SilverFast Negafix profiles at:
https://www.silverfast.com/show/negafixprofiles/en.html

If you are missing the profile for your film material, or want to adjust the values set by SilverFast, you want to use the enhance the Negafix dialogue by clicking on the expert icon (not present in SilverFast SE).
After developing your own profile you can save it and import it lateron to another computer, if you like.

You will find a guide to the Negafix tool in PDF format here:
https://www.silverfast.com/show/negafix/en.html

A valuable read is the SilverFast Negafix tutorial in Ian Lyon's Computer Darkroom:
http://www.computer-darkroom.com/sf5-ne ... egafix.htm

If you would like to have the Negafix workflow presented in a movie, you're in the luck, too:

dear Ororhe,

it may be, that even you had choose the correct NegaFix profile the image shows more or less a colour cast. This may be caused by the film strip itself, by the scanner or something else. But NegaFix has exelent tools and you can easily correct your film strip or create your own NegaFix profile. How to do this you will find the information on our web site:

https://www.silverfast.com/show/negafix/en.html

Ian Lyons also give his advices to SilverFast NegaFix in
his:computer- Darkroom:

http://www.computer-darkroom.com/sf5-ne ... egafix.htm

So please have a look at these web sites and you will get all the information you need.

best regards

Christoph
