Negafix and cross-processed films

Postby doobidoo » Tue Feb 17, 2009 2:22 pm

Hello !

Is there a place where I can find Negafix profiles for cross-processed films ? And where to place them in the app (MacOSX) ?

Right now I'm using the auto-tolerance and the curves to get as close as possible to the results I get from a pro lab. But it's very time consuming, anybody sharing these preset ?

I'm using Agfa Precisa CT 100 ; Fuji Sensia 100 and Fuji Velvia.

Thank you.

Dear doobidoo,

Unfortunately there is not a place where you can find another NegaFix profiles other than those included within SilverFast, If you are using SilverFast Ai or Ai Studio, you can modify the curves to obtain the desired results and save those settings as a new profile, in that way you don't have to repeat the steps for every picture.

Bear in mind that even if someone had created their own profiles for similar film types under similar conditions, that person should also be using your same scanner model and version of SilverFast, otherwise the importing of such profiles will not work for you.

If you are interested in producing your own profiles using Ai or Ai studio you can find useful information on how to proceed by clicking the next links:

I hope you can help yourself with this instructions

Dear Doobidoo,

On Mac OS X the NegaFix profiles you have created can be found at:

Mac/users/your user name/Library/Preferences/LaserSoft Imaging/SilverFast/NegaFix

You will copy those and place them into the same folder in the new computer.

Looking into making my own NegaFix files.. but your two movies do not have sound... is this correct, or somehow the audio has gone missing?

Dear customer,

some of our movies do not have sound with them.
The movies linked by my colleague however do have sound when I start them.
Is maybe your Quicktime outdated or the sound disabled in the quicktime player?

Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

I can confirm that there is no sound when the movies are viewed in Firefox on both OS X and Windows, both of which are using the Apple QT plugin v7.7.8. This is probably because the audio is using an obscure audio compression format (ima4) that this plugin does not handle. The audio works fine in Safari on OS X (as expected), or the movies can be instead downloaded and played in VLC.

Dear customer,

ima4 is the standard codec Quicktime uses.
On my Windows System both FireFox and Quicktime 7 play the movies without any issues including the sound.

Please check your sound settings.
Maybe the input (in Quicktime itself) or output volume are set to mute.

Kind regards,
Arne
