hi.
we have a lot of film to scan but we don't know the brand/type of film in most cases. All we have are the codes printed on the film (most of it anyway). Does anyone know where lists of film codes and their associated film brands/types can be found? It would help immensely when using Negafix.
cheers,
Gregory
does anyone have a list of film codes?

Re: does anyone have a list of film codes?
Dear Gregory,
I know Fuji and Ilford print the commercial name on the border of the filmstrip where as Kodak does not, they put another name (code) on the film stripe than the brand they sell it.
I have not found any site where the equivalences are found, but on google I have found most of then individually (I know it's a lot of work).
Cheers

Re: does anyone have a list of film codes?
after posting the message, I remembered one place I'd seen such a list and set out to find it again. I found it, but unfortunately because it's listed by a major competitor to SilverFast, the forum won't let me post its URL
if anyone wants to see the list, email me and I'll give you the URL off-line.
perhaps SilverFast could assemble a list of its own for its customers.
cheers,
Gregory

- Scanner: I haven't purchased a film scanner yet. I am not using SilverFast yet. However, I have thousands of color negatives to scan, and am exploring my options before making a purchase decision.
Re: does anyone have a list of film codes?
Last night, I was looking for such a list myself, and I found the aforementioned list.
My color film negatives (thousands) are Kodak CP 100 5094, Kodak CL 200 5093, Kodak CM 400 5079. Fortunately, from the list, I've learned these are Kodacolor VR 100 Gen 1, Kodacolor VR 200 Gen 1, and Kodacolor VR 400 Gen 1, respectively. Of course, I remember the brand name Kodacolor. However, without this list, I would be clueless about which SilverFast Negafix profiles to use.
Also, I'm concerned that I see Kodak VR 100 and Kodak VR 200, but not Kodak VR 400, among the SilverFast NegaFix Profiles. I would be grateful if a LaserSoft Imaging representative addresses this.
P.S. I have not purchased a film scanner, SilverFast, or a competing software yet. I am studying my options beforehand.

Re: does anyone have a list of film codes?
Dear jamworks,
You can find the list of officially supported film types here: http://www.silverfast.com/show/negafixprofiles/en.html
Other emulsions are not supported by SilverFast and is not planned in the near future to include any other emulsion than those of the list. However, SilverFast offers you the possibility of creating you own profiles using SilverFast Ai or Ai Studio.
Please download and test the demo version of SilverFast Ai here: http://www.silverfast.com/get_demo/en.html
Information on how to make your own profiles can be found here: http://www.silverfast.com/download/docs/SF-NegaFix-en.pdf
or a video tutorial here: http://www.silverfast.com/showmovie/en.html?movien=301&mode=inline&hide=desc
Thanks for your interest in our products.

Will silverfast support a user forum of user-compiled profiles for these missing ones?

Dear Morgan
You can always open new threads under the "HiRepp NegaFix" main category in our forum.
You should use the word "NegaFix"+ film type + scanner model as title for the thread. You can use the "upload attachment" option when writing your post to upload the desired file you want to share.
Please make sure you do not send links to external websites, otherwise your post might be rejected.
Best Regards
