I know, Negafix is awesome, but ...
Each batch of negative film changes color characteristics a little bit.
Every lab is a little bit different.
Short: C41 is much more unreliable concerning color than E6.
Could we get an option to use something like the digital shooters have with their DNG profiles for lightroom using the X-Rite colorchecker (or any other suitable device) and do our own adjustments after the negative has been converted into a positive?
I imagine the following workflow:
1. Scan the raw negative and apply the native scanner colorspace.
2. Manually define a patch for the orange mask from the beginning or end of film.
3. Subtract this specific orange mask for that specific batch of film, processed by my favourite lab.
4. Apply an adjustment with a colorchecker target to get the final colors.
Though Negafix is great it can't fix everything, like weird lighting situations or variations between batches of film or between labs.
Adjusting curves in Negafix every time things change takes a lot of work and is not as reliable as a measured target under the specific lighting conditions.
Possible ?
I'd love it!
Cheers

Hi feldhaim
That is correct!
Hence we have provided an option in SilverFast Ai Studio to modify the NegaFix profiles
Interesting proposal, but a completely new feature that requires a lot of resources and time to develop. This has been internally submitted for discussion.
We appreciate all proposals and as much as we would like to please all our customers and enhance our products, not all ideas are equally feasible. Some become reality other might take some time to implement or might not be possible at all.
Thanks for your contribution.
