color negatives

I cannot seem to get the silverfast software to scan color negatives correctly. I get a white blank area where the neg. is. Any answers?

You'll need to provide a little more info on the scanner model and version of Silverfast you are using.

Thank you for your response. Color negs. are not scanning properly. I have set all setting to proper catagories in lasersoft5 Ai. I have an Epson Expression1680 scanner with a transparency adapter attached. The Epson twain driver works well on color negs. Also slides scan well in both silverfast and Epson twain drivers.

Slye,

My guess is that you have mot changed SilverFast settings from Reflective to Transparent or more likely Positive to Negative in the General panel.

Thanks Ian, but all settings are proper in those catagories. I have played around with all the option settings but still no go. It scans transparecies well, but i get a blank space where the neg should be when i try to scan negatives.

Have not received any info as to how to correct my problem. Sorry, but no one seems to know how to figure this out including silverfast! Again for anyone out there why can i not scan color negatives in this program? All proper settings are in place!I only get a white out where the color neg. is ????

thanks for your reply.I have the same problem with negs AND slides.Now I got an answer from the support.They told me to check the memory settings in WIN and Photoshop,but they are o.k..And since all previous versions worked,I cannot imagine,that it is up to any settings in my system.And I`m wondering,why nobody from lasersoft is answering in this forum.

This may sound stupid, but have you removed the white cover from the transparency adapter? You know the thing that slides off so you can use the transparency adapter? I assume you have, but I just wanted to point it out, because often times, it's those stupid little things that we overlook that kill us. I often do this on my Expression 1600. Hope I didn't offend you,

my Powerlook 3000 doesn`t have anything to remove.It`s just a problem with 5.5.0r09.Previous versions do work.And I forgot to say,that it also concerns reflectives.
But maybe Slyle can check this out.

paul here, the transparencies scan in silverfast5. Just the negatives don't scan. I think there is a serious problem with this software and they recently came out with a solution/addition called"negafix" added to this program that supposedly is better. I think they came out with it because they know that all previous owners of earlier versions were having this problem.

I have negafix,which is included in every version since 5.5.0.It`s great,indeed.The problem I have with 5.5.0r09 is,that I CANNOT scan anything at all!If you want to know more about that,please read my topic "5.5.0r09" in this forum.

That`s what I did,Ian.5.5.0r06 is working.But I`d like to use the new features in r09.There are some new AF-functions and so on.There must be a major bug in 09.Unfortounately,lasersoft is not responding to my questions in this forum.
Obviousely they just don`t have any idea about that.
