B/W negatives scan

Postby Eyal » Mon Jul 10, 2006 12:57 pm

Hello,

When I am scanning b/w negatives in 16 bit grayscale I can chose a gray profile from the cms panel. I have 2 options which are: none or generic grey profile.
My Photoshop grey profile is gamma 2.2 so if I embedded the generic profile in the scan I get a mismatch in Photoshop.
What shell I do in this case.
Should I chose none or generic grey profile.

THANX,

Eyal

Eyal,

It would be better for you to scan the b/w negatives in RGB. You end up with three channels of image information to work with Vs one this way.

Hi Rag,

Thanks for the help. Can you say a bit more why would it be better in RGB. After all there is no color in those negatives. What would the 2 other channels be good for.

Thanks,

Eyal.

Eyal,

You get more image information/detail, to work with in post production.
