I was following up to your response, Mr. President. You say that all scanners will be updated by the middle of January. Does that mean that those of us with an Epson Expression 1600, Microtek, or PIE scanner are out of luck?
I guess I'm just confused, since I own an Epson 1600, and the 1680, which is almost indentical to the 1600 was one of the first scanners to be updated to 5.51. It seems like it would be the same software, save for the higher bit-depth that the 1680 allows. I guess I'm just wondering why the 1600 is the last to be updated, when both use identical drivers from Epson? I'm not upset, just curious. Thanks,

I doubt if there was much of a change with a 0.01 difference but I get your point!
I just wish that more questions would get answered. If someone were to follow this forum because they were thinking about buying SF, maybe they wouldn't. They need the input of their programmers here. Tech. Support is for "How do I" questions.

That might because 5.5.1 r03 is the latest version for the Epson 2450 and since ALL editions at 5.5.1 are HiRePP enabled I'm not sure what you think you're missing.
As to the other point you made - I "had" some sympathy for it - until about an hour ago when I found myself being reminded on a completely separate support forum (completely different software product) by the software Engineer responsible for the product that I (and other customers) had two basic options:
1. expect that the engineer spends more time holding our hands and dealing with issues that support folk are paid to handle, or
2. tell him the problem and then give him space and time to fix it.
Being an Engineer who finds himself nannying a bunch of other engineers on a daily basis I find myself being somewhat more sympathetic to the latter option, even though it means I'll find myself talking to the wall more than I would prefer. Sometimes we need reminding that "we" are not the centre of the universe.

I agree with you, and I never intended this post to be about whining. I was merely curious as to whether or not Lasersoft was still supporting my scanner that I've owned for a little less than a year now. It has been since August since they updated Lasersoft for my scanner, but as I've had no problems/bugs, I haven't complained. I was just a little concerned that there won't be any future development for my scanner model. I work/have worked at several software companies, so I know what development can be like, so I feel bad that my post seems like a compliant. Silverfast is one of the greatest programs I've ever used, and absolutely essential to my workflow.
Keep up the good work at LaserSoft Imaging,GmbH,

I know you're not whining and am sure that most others raising questions have genuine reasons for asking certain questions. My message was not directed at you or at any other individual (meaning I'm as guilty as the rest on occasions).
So far as the 1600 goes it's clear that the PC version is lagging WELL behind the Mac version and given that I use and so frequent both download pages I find this VERY surprising - My gut feeling is that it is nothing other than oversight. Hopefully some form of response will be made soon.

The only reason I have/bought a Epson 2450 is because SF Ai, NegaFix! doesn't work with a HP-6300C at twice the price of the Epson version. LSI Tech. Support passed it to the developher whom never replied. I had another connection to Tech. Support who responded that it was not compatible and gave me a RMA#. I don't know why that version is still sold as is!

I don't know about the HP scanners so can't really comment on compatibility.

I was initially trained as an electrical and power electronics engineer. Thankfully fixing things was something I was able to step away from some 18 years back. Fixing a an electric motor on the end of 100 foot high gantry crane wasn't for me
