Silverfast settings for newspaper scans?
Do you have any suggestions for scanner settings for old newspaper photos? Heidelberg's Opal Ultra running Silverfast AI on Photoshop 7. MJF777@aol.com
Dear mjf777
for scanning newspaper photographs you need to descreen the images.
Choosing an appropriate dark or white cardboard background will let you have fewer "rogue" pixels from the versa side of the paper.
You can use the handy highlight pipette to quickly get a white background in your scan (if the newspaper is already faded out) for greyscale scans.
For color scans, you perhaps want to make use of the ACR color restauration tool which is to be found in the selective color correction window.
Kind regards
