Linoscan 1450 on Windows XP?

Postby jethro » Sat Jul 31, 2004 12:42 am

Hi, we have a Linoscan 1450 Firewire scanner that has worked OK with AI 6 under Mac OSX 10.2.x abd 10.3.3.

We now would like to use it with our Windows XP laptop. We purchased a Firewire Cardbus card. It supports full OHCI 1394a specs. The laptop found and installed all drivers when it was installed. The laptop also found and installed the drivers for the scanner when it was plugged in. The drivers are listed as 'HDM LS4G1F' and are dated 2000.

We have the latest version of SilverFast AI. It will startup OK and seems to recognize the scanner OK.

But when we try to perform a prescan, nothing happens and the computer freezes up. I've tried multiple times, restarted, etc.

Does the 1450 work with SF AI 6 in Windows XP? Should it work with a compliant PCMCIA Firewire card?

I don't know where to find any updated drivers for the scanner as it was discontinued. All drivers were installed by Windows.

Any help??? Thanks.

Dear Jethro

as you'll see on our list of supported scanners, the Linoscan 1450 should generally be expected to work on Windows XP using the firewire connection: http://www.silverfast.com/product/Heide ... 67/en.html

However, cardbus or PCMCIA firewire controllers are a very specific, sometimes troublesome thing. So I am a bit reluctant to make a general statement about functionality here, before I more know about the configuration.

Please contact LaserSoft Imaging support staff: http://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html
I would appreciate if you could paste a fresh copy of the SF_Logfile in the problem report.
Thanks in advance for your co-operation.

P.S. Please do not cross-post. Thank you for your kind understanding.
