What are the changes between r5 and r6?
I've not seen improvement in the areas of criticism I've had so far in using r5: occasional crashes (running OS 10.6.8, iCore 5 27: iMac, 4MB RAM), occasionally unresponsive Work Flow Pilot button, inability to remember the settings of where to save files I'm processing based on the previous job, and insufficient room to see more than 2-3 of the directory path and file name.

Re: HDR Studio 8.0.1r6
Hi there
We are trying to get the beta version to work steadily with files from previous versions of SilverFast. Things like misalignments or pictures not showing up are very common at this stage and we are taking steps to correct this kind of issues first.
Kind regards

Re: HDR Studio 8.0.1r6
That's understandable, thanks.
Different problem: any TIFF I generate with Silverfast HDR 8 Studio Beta from a Silverfast 8 Ai RAW TIFF source has corrupt Marker notes (see attached screen shot), preventing me from geo-tagging it. I thought this was a problem with the GraphicConverter program I use to assign Google Earth positions to photos, but the editor of their forum (Thorsten Lemke) said that whenever such a Marker Note corruption exists, I have to open and choose Save As in GraphicConverter to fix the problem; after I do that the image is geo-taggable. That's an extra step to take with hundreds/thousands of images. This too may not be high on your priority list, but wanted to flag it for you.

Hi there
It's something we are going to solve in future versions.

Re: HDR Studio 8.0.1r6
Testing r6 under OSX 10.7.3 we have some progress with HDRi scanned images. Both positive and color negative images are being processed correctly in either 48 or 24 output mode
There is still a problem with the image preview going blank when material type is set to negative until a process is applied where a 1:1 preview is generated (iSRD etc.).
Grayscale output is still not functioning. Although color images can be rendered as grayscale, 8/16 and 24 bit (HDRi) grayscale images cannot be processed.

Hi iDollar
You can also press and hold the alt key, you will notice how the open button changes, using the button in this stage will refresh your preview.
Thanks for your feedback
Cheers

Re: HDR Studio 8.0.1r6
Hi Peter
I have filled a report describing this. However I would like to provide more information to the case.
What is "Maker Notes", is this a standard tag of the Tiff file specification? Or perhaps something related to EXIF-Data?
Thanks for your cooperation

The Makernote is tag 0x927c in the Exif IFD. According to the Exif 2.2 standard, the makernote is "a tag for manufacturers of Exif writers to record any desired information. The contents are up to the manufacturer, but this tag should not be used for any other than its intended purpose."

Re: HDR Studio 8.0.1r6
Does Silverfast have an interest in reviewing the technical crash data that I've logged while using HDR Studio 8.0.1 r6? This forum does not allow me to upload a text file (tried .rtf and .pdf) If so, what is the recommend method of transmitting it to you?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: HDR Studio 8.0.1r6
Hi Peter,
It is correct. The maker note is reserved to the manufacturer and it is not mandatory nor stipulated how this should be treated. Since this not a standard specification (because it is up to the manufacturer),the other application you are using returns the message mentioned above "Unrecognized maker notes".
This however does not mean that the file is corrupt by any means. At this point I do not believe we will change anything in the software regarding Makernotes in the foreseeable future.
Thanks for your cooperation and understanding
