I'm currently evaluating HDR Studio for use with scanning film negatives. For generating thumbnails and proofs, I'd like to use Hot Folders to automate the process as much as possible. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if "Auto" means "Auto" when setting up a Hot Folder.
Let me see if I can explain...
I have a strip of 6 images, which are shot under different lighting conditions (tungsten, sunlight/daylight, heavy overcast, etc.) which were scanned as HDR images (so no corrections). If I set up a hot folder for a given processing task using "Current Frame" settings, when these 6 images are processed through the hot folder, the output varies depending on which frame I was looking at/modifying when setting up the hot folder. It seems, that instead of performing an "Auto" NegaFix per frame, it's using the actual RGB numbers calculated for that frame, and applying it to all the rest. This is not the desired result, as the mask numbers computed for an image of a tungsten-lit room are necessarily very different than one of an image shot under clear blue sky or heavy overcast.
Is there any way to force a hot folder to use a true per-frame "Auto" setting with NegaFix for Hot Folders? This seems like a major shortcoming. I've seen this same issue in the scanner interface when setting up batch jobs.
I'd appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Re: Negafix "Auto" and Hot Folders
Dear Greg,
Have you made sure the frame settings you use fit the images you scan?
I would suggest creating frame settings for that film type and then saving them through the settings pull-down menu.
select the saved frame to use in the HotFolder/ColorServer Framesettings pull-down menu and make sure the check-mark is set for the image auto adjustment.
Please be aware that you will need a different imagetype for each film you shoot.
you can use multiple sets of input-output folders for different films and frame settings.
kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: Negafix "Auto" and Hot Folders
Thank you, that worked as I expected. I had thought that clicking that option would do an "Auto-Adjust", as if I had clicked that button in the frame panel, but now I see it does something different.
