IT8 Calibration with HDR Studio

Postby tgphoto » Tue Oct 20, 2009 4:38 pm

Hi,

I am using Silverfast Ai Studio 6.6.1r3 in 64-bit HDRi mode to scan 6x7 transparencies. These are then processed using Silverfast HDR Studio 6.6.1r3.

My question is concerning Auto IT8 Calibration. Do I need to run the calibration process in both applications, or just one?

Thanks!

Tim

Dear Tim,

you do not need to separatly calibrate in HDR.
All scanner profiles are used globally.
Also with HDR and HDRi images the scanner profile is embedded into the image.
HDR calibration is only necessary for the import of camera raw files.

kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

If I import a "48 Bit HDR Color" scanned image into HDR Studio, and then select "48 Bit Color" as the Image Mode, when I save it, does HDR Studio convert the image into Adobe RGB automatically?

If you have specified Adobe RGB as your internal color space into "options/CMS" then yes that is the color space that will be used and embedded into the file, if you have specified otherwise then most likely it will be a different color space embedded.
