VLT Windows. Problems. Old and new

Postby HenryS » Thu Jul 03, 2003 5:55 pm

Just downloaded ver. 6.0.2r33 and tested in Job Manager. Loaded 1304 images.

1. Old problem: Images load even slower than with previously tested one 6.0.2r7. The overall speed is the SLOWEST. However the processor usage is 2-10% .
(Win XP Pro, Photoshop 7.0, Pentium 2.4G, 512M. Photoshop/SF was the only application ran at the time.)

2. New problem: I wanted to "scan" them (JPGs) as JPG, but got a message:
"1-Bit line art data couldn't be saved in JPEG format". Actually images were quite regular scenes shot by quite regular cameras like Fuji S2, etc. Most of them were without any computer adjustments.

There were other less critical problems.

I have to stay with my older SF 6.0.1r40+something (without VLT) and hope. Please help to move.
Thank you

What average size have your images (unpacked if JPEG)?

Could you send an image that produces that error to support@silverfast.de along with an error description?

What other problems did you encounter?

Most images were JPEGs. Many of them were 2300x1500 pix

I don't think THE IMAGE could help to fix the problem now. The point is that I got the message once when the first run started. After the run finished. I tried other runs with just part of images (from the same folder). Got the same message. Finally, I rebooted computer and ran just 1 very regular RGB image with Job manager. Got the same message. It seems, that a permanent flag was turned on and I will get this message forever.
After fixing THAT problem, I could run this folder again, and hopely find the specific image with a problem, if any.
What other problems did you encounter?

For example, it is quite unreliable to select image by clicking. Sometimes it works, sometimes - not. Scrolling VLT window is unreliable too. I think those problems would dissappear when the major speed problem will be resolved.
P.S. If the VLT speed problem could not be resolved soon, is it possible to make an option to send images to Job Manager the old way? The reason for that is:
I do not think you are going to support old SF versions. But I (and other silent people, using JM) cannot upgrade now.
Thank you

We have made significant speed improvements regarding thumbnail loading in the VLT and in the JM. Look out for updated versions (602r42 or higher); they should be available within two weeks.
I bet that after that update you won't miss the "old" HDR version (without VLT) anymore.
