I installed r43, copied the silverfast folder back to photoshp import folder as directed after installation. The program worked fine the first time but the next day photoshop would not complete it's opening sequence. What to do?

clarification of upgrade install please
Can you clarify on the correct method of installation that saves the present setting? Here's what I was previously told..
"Please copy your SilverFast folder to the desktop ( not the plug-in) - uninstall the exsisting version and install the newer version. Than put the Silverfast folder back to the import / export folder of Photoshop.
All your settings will be saved."
