New release problem

Postby HenryS » Mon Mar 10, 2003 5:36 am

I updated my SF 6HDR to release 39 and got a problem with Batch File Mode, which I did not have before.

The problem is:
I click a Job Manager button "Add images from overview". Then I select a directory, where my images are located. I see overview with thumbnails, which are not the images from the directory, but all of them are the same image, which appears, when I open the SF. Now it is a pyramid named SF_Callmage.jpg.

In order to fix the problem, I removed SF using Windows Control Panel, then I cleaned up Photoshop plug-in directory as well, then I reinstalled the program. It did not help.

Please help. Thank you.

Dear Thomas,

I downloaded new ver.42 today, but the problem still exists. More, I did not see any changes regarding new VLT features.

May be something is wrong with my Win XP Register and it keeps some wrong data from previous versions? I would like to clean my register from old SF data in order to start from pure scratch. How can I do this?

Thank you

Dear Henry,

There was probably a misunderstanding about the bug you mentioned. Another problem may have been solved.

I just downloaded the HDR demo version 601d43 from the website and tested it on Win 2000. No problem. I'll give a test on Win XP on monday. I am sure we will find out what your problem is.

As far as the VLT with HDR is concerned: it is available for OSX now and will be available for Windows very soon.

Dear Henry,

the bug was fixed in release 601r43, but you need to do something to have SF working properly.

Each time you choose a folder and view the images with the overview tool, a hidden file "SFthumbs(HDR)" containing the thumbnails is created in the corresponding folder. This allows SilverFast to create an overview much more quickly the next time you want to view the content of the folder.

So, you should look for all the hidden files called SFthumbs(HDR) and remove them.

Dear Thomas,

Thank you.
Yes, old SFThumbs were the source of r43 problem. The case is closed.

Regarding Win VLT.
VLT may substantually change my workflow. In other hand, I plan to update production system to recent release as soon as possible. So it is very important for me to have an idea about expected timeframe for Win VLT. Is it matter of days, weeks or months? Your comments will be greatly appreciated

Thank you and LSI again for prompt fix and response.

Henry

Dear Henry.

The coding for VLT PC will be finished this week. Hopefully, we can release next week.

Eric.
