Job Manager Problem after installing new HDR Version

Postby kmlevine » Wed Mar 10, 2004 5:49 am

Greeting from Kauai,

Here we go again

I just installed the latest HDR version and presto, I have Job manager problems again that must be related to the changes in the version. Please advise.

When I open job manager and try to open a specific job that is listed under the open menu, I get a box saying "error loading job, Can't find the file 'file name' and there is the path listed underneath. When I click search and browse to the directory with the file that I'm attempting to open, the file is correctly listed. I click it and click change and the program won't accept the change or recognize the file. And this is the correct file same name etc. Please advise ASAP.

Thanks,

Ken

Dear Ken,

the format of the saved Jobs hasn't changed for really a long time, so I don't suspect, that there's a bug introduced lately.
Are you saying, that what you are trying to do did work in an older SilverFast version but doesn't work in the current version?

I just tried it on my own: I created a job with some files in it (added from the VLT), saved it and closed the job. I then moved the files to another directory with the Windows Explorer and tried to open the job again. I got the error message (as you did too), but was able to successfully specify the new path to the file(s).

Please describe in more detail what you are doing and how the job is composed (files added from the VLT?).

Best regards
Ralf

Job Manager Problem after installing new HDR Version

Postby kmlevine » Thu Mar 11, 2004 9:36 am

Hi,
I forgot to add that the Job manager files were added after using files from VLT in HDR and making many corrections. THen I added the files to Job Manager and processed the file to a TIFF for printing. In many cases, I'd make incremental changes to an image and add each incremental change as a new entry to a file in Job Manager.

Thanks,

Ken

Here?s the situation. After I updated to ver. 6.2.0r5, the launcher would start SF and then have a fatal error. I determined that there were double launcher.exe files and deleted the files from Lasersoft directory leaving the launcher.exe in PS7/plugins/Silverfast. Meanwhile with the change to ver. R5, job manager files were now being saved to the Application Data/Lasersoft/Silverfast directory. I moved my old Job manager files from PS7/plugins/Silverfast to Application Data/Lasersoft/Silverfast.

Everything worked fine until I updated to ver. 6.2.0r6 after which opening the Job manager files generated error messages. When I opened a specific file that is listed under the open menu, I?d get a box saying "error loading job, Can't find the file 'file name' and there is the path listed underneath. When I click search and browse to the directory with the file that I'm attempting to open, the file is correctly listed. I?d click it and click change.

I discovered that Version 6.2.0.r6, automatically installed the new launcher.exe in a HDR subdirectory under Lasersoft directory, even if during the installation, the PS Plug-in directory is specified.

After deleting the launcher.exe files and prf files from Silverfast HDR directory under PS7/plugins as well under Lasersoft , I removed Version 6.2.0.r6, and installed the latest version 6.2.0r7. Then I copied my Job manager files, which were backed-up prior to installing ver. 6.2.0r6, to the Application Data/Lasersoft/Silverfast directory.

So hopefully, now I have a clean install. I opened SF HDR using either the launcher or as a PS& plug-in and attempted to open a Job manager file and I?m still getting the same ?error loading job? message. When I do the search and change all the images to the listed location and click change or change all, Job Manager and HDR have a fatal error and close.

I?d very much appreciate your help in solving this bug, as I have dozens of job manager files and scores of image corrections stored through Job manager.

Thank you.

Ken
