IT8 and Silverfast SE w/HDR: any use?

Postby maiaibing » Mon Nov 16, 2009 1:35 pm

If I only scan negatives would there be any gain from upgrading my Silverfast SE w/HDR to IT8 calibration? In Silverfast calibration does not make any difference when scanning negatives - would this be different with HDR? I am wondering since you have an upgrade option for HDR + IT8 - but no such option for Silverfast SE which I feel would make more sense (for those scanning reflective materials).

No, it would not make any difference because there are specific negative profiles for working with Negatives in any version of SilverFast (SE, SE Plust, Ai, Ai Studio or HDR).

Well, you can upgrade from SilverFast SE to SE Plus with IT8 calibration.
IT8 calibration is not only useful for reflective material, it is also very good when you are working with positive transparencies (slides).
