hdr problems

Postby Quinine » Sat Apr 10, 2004 6:42 pm

hi,

i have run into problems using silverfast ai/hdr (v6.2.1r1) recently:

i'm scanning my slides with silverfast ai into 48bit hdr files with a minolta dimage scan elite 5400 /w 2700 dpi. loading these hdr files into silverfast hdr gives artefacts on the whole image within the preview and after processing.

i tried to get down to the problem:

- calibrating silverfast ai
- scanning the it8-target with ai 48 bit (2700dpi)
- scanning the it8-target with ai 48 bit hdr (2700dpi)
- processing the 48 bit hdr file with silverfast hdr -> 48 bit (with calibration)

the result is:

- direct 48 bit scans from ai are perfect, no artefacts
- silverfast hdr processed files have artefacts.

i'm working on the same machine with ai/hdr. intel p iii, 384 mb ram, minolta scan elite 5400 (minolta software 1.1.3 installed), silverfast ai/hdr both v6.2.1.r1. i don't have any idea what the heck is going on. if you need, i can provide the icm and scanned files.

i wish you happy easter!

--- jan.

Dear Jan,

you should maybe contact the support team at

https://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html

and tell

- what kind of artefacts you have
- if the HDR files (processed by a non-calibrated HDR version) are OK
- etc.

I am sure they will be able to fix the problem with you.

Thomas

Dear Jan,

I tried to reproduce this, but I could not find any artefacts.

I tried every possible combination ( HDR -HDR, HDR- 48bit, 48bit-48bit, 48bit-HDR ) and examined the images with Photoshop>>> 1200 zoom.

>>> no artefacts found >>> SF HDR works correct.

regards Christoph
