Hello Silverfast, all,
since Silverfast 8.5.0r7 the Checkbox for HDR output (in German: "für HDR Ausgabe") is missing.
I recognized that the last days, due to an update from Silverfast 8.5.0r6 !!! to Silverfast 8.8.0r1.
Than I tested several versions in my VMWare test enviroment.
The latest version which has that checkbox was the Silverfast 8.5.0r6.
My problem is, that without that checkbox the output TIFs from my HDR64i scans are much to dark
and using only a fraction of the colorspace.
Before I checked the box for HDR output (in German: "für HDR Ausgabe") on and the scanned images
were pretty good.
Where do I find now that Checkbox ? Or what is the official substitute ?
Or could Lasersoft fix that issue and bring that feature back ?
I am using Silverfast with Nikon LS5000 Super Coolscan.
kind regards
Kolja

Dear Kolja,
Tis was removed on purpose because the function was disturbing the HDR workflow.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Dear Arne,
o.k. I strongly believe that you are right, unfortunately it is not really clear to me.
Following the link you mentioned I could not get the information how I could perform my workflow,
nor how I could do the recommended workflow.
Most of the links are refering Silverfast 6 versions.
The only information on Gamma correction was:
http://www.silverfast.com/highlights/ga ... on/de.html
Unfortunately exactly my setting is mentioned.
Please could you explain more detailled, how it breaks the workflow and how I could get my workflow working or what
is wrong about.
My current workflow is the following:
- Scan best as possible in RAW data with IR channel and max resolution ( 4 x 16bit color channels RGB and IR) with 4000 dpi. I am using a Nikon Coolscan 5000ED.
- Save this TIFF with Gamma 2.2 (therefore I need the "To HDR" checkbox)
- Now I could do the iSRD, GANE, ACR corrections in batch in Silverfast HDR
- in Parallel I could also use Photoshop or use the TIFF directly, without Silverfast HDR cause I have correct Gamma value
Now for me that is totally broken. And I got a little bit lost.
Thanks for your support.
Best regards
Kolja

Dear Kolja,
Yes we did not update that screenshot yet.
I will make sure that my colleagues will do so.
The gamma adjustment is changing the HDR output, but those files must be saved unchanged.
That is why the setting had to be removed.
You will need to use a normal 48 bit output if you want to apply changes to your image.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.

Re: General Settings - Checkbox for HDR missing - dark scans
Further to my previous post with more detail:
I need to generate linear RAW TIFF files of my negatives with iSRD Dust removal applied, but without any other processing. I don't want Negafix, color adjustments etc.
The solution that I tried is:
Under Preferences / General:
set gamma = 1 (to get linear TIFF files)
Under Preferences / CMS:
set all color space to 'None'
set Output to RGB
disable 'Embed ICC Profile'
Select 'Transparency' and 'Positive'
Select 'Multi-Exposure' and 'iSRD'
Scan negative and save as 48bit
The idea is that Silverfast will save the unaltered scan with the exception of iSRD Dust Removal.
Unfortunately, it does not work, as Silverfast does not save anything !!!!. It does the scan and then just stops processing
This must be a bug. It is Silverfast 8 Ai Studio for Nikon LS-5000ED Release 8.80r2 on OSX 10.11.3 El Capitan

Dear customer,
SilverFast requires an input profile.
It is the definition base for the colors in your scan.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
