I use SilverFast 5.5 Ai in conjunction with my Nikon 8000 ED scanner, and the combinition works exceedingly well when calibrated.
I just don't see the point of using HDR in my workflow as a Professional Photographer. I fully appreciate the benifits of doing a high resolution scan at max scanner true optical resolution, but if I generate RAW scans for processing in HDR I lose all the benefits of Scratch / Dust removal as well as Grain reduction.
My workflow is to scan at 48 bit use scratch removal & grain reduction (if necessary and then save as 48 bit TIFF files in Photoshop. What an I missing.

Better workflow than HDR
Addendum to my last post.
I am currently using the demo version of SilverFast 5.5 Ai, and I get good 24 bit scans. Why doesn't SilverFast have a 48 bit mode besides HDR, or is it purly commercial. In my view this feature would totally negate the need for HDR.
Nikon and v**s**n do!
Without 48 bit output, SilverScan is not a very attravtive option, especially at the price.
