What's the correct way to batch scan with the 1640XL?

Postby HB88 » Thu Dec 05, 2002 2:50 am

When batch scanning in Mac OS 10.1.5 (or previously in Win 2000) through PS 7.1 I always get the, "error in scan start" message usually after the second scan. I then have to force quit Photoshop. The error light on the scanner is on so I hit the reset button but this requires a restart of the Mac because Silverfast, if relaunched, freezes when looking for the scanner. I think this may be due to operator error since the same thing used to happen when batch scanning on our Win2000 workstation.

Should auto focus only be used on the first image in the batch? I seem to notice more problems when trying to focus on more than one image.

Does anyone have a good explanation of how the Batch Counter should be used in the save batch dialog?

I guess what I really need to find out is: What's the correct way to batch scan negs or prints so Silverfast is happy?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
