What gamma setting

Postby RichardRegal » Wed Feb 25, 2004 1:16 am

I am using SilverFast Ai with an Epson Perfertion 3200 pro. What Gamma Graduation value should I use when scanning ITC 8 targets to build a profile? (I use Monaco EZ to build my profiles).

Also, when should I use 48 bit colour mode and when should I use 48 bit HDR Colour?

I know the gamma should be between 1?8 and 2?2, but ehse are just standard Mac and Windows figures for monitors. Should I be aiming for any of the grey patches to return particular values?

Thanks for the reference. A gamma of 2?45 seems to work best (for reflective subjects at least) althogh I can?t quite get the values he thinks are the best ones to get.
