Got my Epson v800 brand new and had been scanning all day perfectly fine and sharp. Using 35mm negatives in the film strip holder at lowest default height. Using Silverfast 8.8
Prescaned and all was sharp and in focus. As I had been doing all day with many rolls of film. Super sharp images.
Noticed it was at 300dpi as it always resets when you make a new frame. So without doing anything else at all I changed it to 2400dpi (as I've done many times before without any issue) and hit prescan again, and the scan suddenly became blurry and unusable (even with sharpening applied).
Tried re scanning, turning on and off, resetting silverfast to default settings and no luck.
Took the film out and placed flat on scanner glass and they scan perfectly sharp. But I can now I can no longer get sharp scans using the film holders, this makes no sense at all after doing it perfectly all day long. Can someone please help.
Thanks
Cam

Re: v800 Scans suddenly blurry
Dear Cam,
Please check the selected transparency mode. The V800 does not have a variable focus, but it can switch between two focus layers. This is set by the transparency mode.
The wide area transparency which scans the full flatbed places the focus directly on the glass.
The smaller transparency mode is being used with the film holders and is placing the focus at the holder hight.
Kind regards
Arne
