V-750 PRO 48 bit scan behavior?

I been trying out my new V-750 PRO and have come across a problem with the 48 bit scan setting. Scans made with this setting are at first glance extremely dark. I suspect that any adjustments I've selected are NOT being applied. I understand that 48 bit HDR scans are raw scans but the 48 bit setting seems to behave the same way and NOT apply any of the adjustments and produces what I believe are raw scans. If I change only the setting, 48->24 bit, the scans are properly adjusted. Am I missing something or is this a possible bug in the V-750 version of SilverFast AI?

On the V-750, there are choices for both "48 bit HDR" and "48 bit color". The "48 bit color" setting doesn't seem to apply any planned corrections. As a test if I only change "48 bit" to "48 bit -> 24 bit" all the adjustments correctly applied.

Another way to ask this question is shouldn't the "48 bit color" setting behave just like the "48 bit -> 24 bit" setting but produce 16 bits per channel per pixel rather than 8 bits.

Have you tried using the same scanner profile that Epson Scan is using? I was experiencing dark scans with my 4990 until I change to the same scanner profile used Epson Scan. Won't hurt to give it a try, right?

As suggested I tried Epson Scan, making sure that the same scanner profile was being used. The results are the same, Epson scan produces an acceptable 48 bit scan and SF produces a very dark scan when 48 color is selected. I haven't tried the 48 bit HDR setting yet, thats my next test. I really would like to use the power of SF in making this set of 48 bit scans.

Remember that Epson Scan does an automatic adjustment by default. If you are able to obtain a good scan with Epson Scan then it is possible to obtain a better scan with SilverFast. You just need to make the appropriate adjustments to the settings.

This seems to be the feature most needed in SF
