Upgrade from SE to AIv6

I'm confused about the upgrade cost to go from the Silverfast SE version that is shipped with the Epson 2450 to the full version of AI6. Is the cost $119 and the fact that all 2450's are shipped with SE has been factored in? Why the instructions to add the comment that you are upgrading from SE when purchasing? Thanks for a clarification of this.

I have the full version of AI for my SS4000 and don't really want to work with a lesser version on the flatbed.
