I am using 6.4.1.r4b and Windows 2000 (AMD Athlon 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB main storage).
Whenever I start a scan with area guidance (area is 19.4 x 1.0 cm - that is a section out of a Super 8 film that should be digitized with S8ToAVI ).
Filter is USM value 200 the active scan window pops up and the pilot of the lasersoft airplane is starting to waste fuel

It flys and flys and never comes to an end.
You have to shoot em down (Microsoft message: the program is not responding) and then normally you have to reboot Windows 2000.
( The same happened already under 6.4.1.r3. 6.4.1.r2 did not allow area guided scanning larger than 145 mm width.)
EpsonScan is able to scan the area with a resolution of 3800 dpi and USM middle. File size about 130 MB - TIFF or 5 to 6 MB JPG.
So I asume the scanner hardware is able to handle this.
Is there a solution other than to reduce the scanning resolution.
I would like to use SilverFast rather than EpsonScan.
Any hint welcome.
Regards
Wolfgang
