Silverfast vs Epson Scan for B&W on V750 pro

Postby sdlarry » Sat Jan 06, 2007 5:08 pm

Why does Silverfast even bother with having the B&W feature in their software? Perhaps it works on other scanners, but on the v750...forget it!

On the otherhand, Epson Scan does a fantastic job on B&W negatives...

sdlarry,

Unless you are scanning line are you are better off using RGB for B&W because you get three channels of data, right?

Why triple my file size for a scan that is worse than using Epson Scan?

Again, Why does Silverfast have such embarassingly disfunctional B&W options? They should either fix or eliminate .

Well,

I can't answer that question, but I can tell you that I have had good results myself.

Maybe someone else in the forum has had results similar to yours and can elaborate.

Problem solved! A note from Silverfast told me to delete the "Lasersoft Imaging" folder (C: \ Documents and Settings \ (your username) \ Application Data \ Lasersoft Imaging). Now I can make beautiful B&W scans!
