Silverfast Demo won't run on Epson 1250Photo?

I tried installing the new sf5.5 demo but I am unable to successfully run the software. It boots up in photoshop 5.5 but then freezes with the message, "searching for devices" all the time. I consulted all the faq's/info and tried all the solutions and suggestions and reinstalls but I can't get silverfast to run on my machine (Intel P3 800 running windows 98 w/256MB ram). I checked the support list which has an Epson 1240Photo but not my machine. Would this software also support the 1250Photo scanner?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated as silverfast looks like a very good package.

There was a query a few days ago regarding the 1650 (same series) and at that time LaserSoft didn't have the scanner so couldn't update the driver to support it. I think you'll find the same goes for the 1250
