SilverFast Ai with Epson GT-30000 ?

Postby equilter » Thu Aug 23, 2007 3:09 pm

Is the SilverFast Ai software compatible with the Epson GT-30000?
Can the software create custom Color Profiles? Does the software change the actual pixels to correct the image before loading in Photoshop?

Dear equilter,

yes, SilverFast runs fine with the GT-3000.
Depending on the version you buy ( it should be an "IT-8" version then ) you can produce profiles for your individual scanner !

Whether you want to have the pixels changed or just to attach the profile and leave the pixels unchange is only depending on your settings in the Colormanagement Settings.

Thanks for your kind reply Nils. One more question, we use our GT-30000 with the Epson Scan Server, so that more than one person can utilize the scanner. Can the Silverfast product be configured to operate through the Epson Scan Server?

Dear equilter,

sorry, SilverFast doesn't support the EPSON Network Protocol...

Thanks again Nils, that's too bad indeed. Unfortunately it's a deal-breaker. Do you have any plans or discussion about possibly offering support for the Epson Scan Server in the future?

Dear equilter,
sorry afaik we don't have those plans.
Its too proprietary and used too seldom to invest the work.

Thanks again Nils. If you feel that the Epson system is too proprietary, you might consider providing your own Network TWAIN driver. That way it could work on any scanner you're supporting.

Dear equilter,

actually wid did try that, but it showed that 90% of all manufactures did not really constrain themselves to the TWAIn standard when we tried for the more advanced features ( CMS, 16 Bit scanning, Gradation curve uploading, ... ) so we dropped that project...

:-)

OK, well if you ever decide to support network scanning, you'll have a new customer.

Incredile... i'm not albe to believe.. Year 2007 all work around the network lan ... and SilverFast ( one leader company of calibration system) don't have software able to work over LAN.

And what do a company that have 1 scanner share for all office over a LAN? Need i buy one scanner for each PC?

According with equilter, I'll be glad to be your customer when will be ready a solution for Network. I'm developer too.. and I don't think is diffucult realize a Silverfast Server to work over lan and support calibration.

(I have Epson 1680 with Scan Server)

Regards.....
