Silverfast Ai, Epson 3200 odd behavior

Postby mecarboy » Wed Dec 10, 2003 10:38 pm

Greetings All,

I am running WIndows 2000 and have installed Silverfast Ai and Photoshop CS. I can scan via Silverfast from within AI.. but I get some weird indications that makes me wonder if Silverfast is correctly recognizing the scanner.

At the very top of the prescan "window" is the title bar for the window.. It says EPSON GT-9800.. which seems pretty odd as the verison I purchased and installed was for my EPSON 3200 scanner. I have double checked the downloaded "update" version of the SilverFast software from the website and performed an uninstall and reinstall... nonetheless, the SilverFast software, although it "works", seems to insist my scanner is a EPSON GT-9800 (of which I can find no record of on the EPSON website) rather than seeing the scanner as an EPSON PERFECTION 3200.

Any ideas on what is going on and what I must do to make sure the software is properly recognizing the scanner??

Thanks,
Michael Carboy

... "GT-9800" is the internal identifier name for the brand model name "Epson Perfection 3200".
It is the same scanner, of course.

Like one is "John" to his friend, but "Mr Doe" to strangers 8-)
