SF AI 6.0 scan quits mid-scan with Epson 3200 / Photoshop
SF AI 6.0 scan quits mid-scan with Epson 3200 / Photoshop
I had no problems scanning for the first few days I had the 3200/Silverfast combo, but suddenly when I do a final scan or a SRD preview scan, the Silverfast "Scan to file" dialog disappears before the scan completes. The scanner keeps scanning, but nothing ever shows up in Photoshop, and I have to restart the scanner/photoshop to continue. The preview scan works fine, I have NO problems using Epson's scan software, and I've tried both Firewire and USB with the same result. I've deleted the pref's folder and restarted too.
I'm on Windows 2K Pro/AMD with plenty of memory and storage.
Help?

I have the same problem
I have had the same problem that appears to be a bug in Silverfast AI that wasn't in Silverfast SE. I can reproduce it every time and it occurs using both the Silverfast AI Photoshop plug-in and the stand-alone application.
Whenever I try to make high resolution scans of lineart, at 600 - 1200 dpi, Silverfast quits during the scanning process although the scanner continues as if it were scanning normally. If I am trying to scan in Photoshop it crashes Photoshop too.
I have sent a self-expanding Stuffit archive to support@silverfast.de containing the Silverfast log, the Photoshop and Silverfast crash logs. I would be grateful if you will advise a solution.

6.0.1r31 is what came with the scanner. I tried to download an update from your site, but this apparently requires username and password, and I could not find any instructions as to how one obtains the aforementioned username and password. I did download your demo (is it the latest version - I've since uninstalled it and re-installed what came with the scanner?), and it exhibited the same problem.

When did this fix arrive? I've been emailing Lasersoft asking what was happening and getting no response (unlike the service I used to get from Heidelberg).
I applied the 6.0.2r42 patch and lineart scans work fine in Photoshop at high resolutions. However, the version number still reads 6.0.2r03.
At least it works now - although I was getting to like the Epson-built package and getting excellent results from it.

No one of us is monitoring the forum at the weekend.
To obtain username and password you just have to register your copy of SilverFast (e.g. at http://www.silverfast.com/reg/en.html). Username and password will then get emailed to you.

I need more information
Dear vadimk,
I can?t reproduce the problem and have some questions?
1. On which OS are you working - Windows(Win 98,w2k ,Win XP) or Mac( OS 9, OS X, Jaguar) ?
2. What kind of scan are you doing -
a)48Bit/16Bit /lineart
b)Resolution in dpi
c) width and height in pixel of the final scan
These informations will help me to track your problem.
Thanks

I still can?t reproduce the problem.
I downloaded the the latest Version from Epson(Uk) perf3200p_win_1.0h.exe
I tested transparent and reflectiv scans with USB and Firewire under Photoshop 6 and SF App.
I used the following Epson drivers.
Version: 1.0.0
Date:3.9.2002
Driver Info:
scsiscan.sys from Microsoft Version 5.1.2600.0 (XPClient.010817-1148)
Does the Epson software works without any problems on your system ?
Thanks
Ron
