SF 6.4.4r7a as Plugin for Photoshop CS3 issue

Postby Felix » Sun May 13, 2007 10:32 am

I am using the 6.4.4r7a update of SF Ai for the Epson 2450. The scanner is on firewire to an Intel Mac running OS 10.4.9. I'm unable to get Silverfast to show up in the Photoshop CS3 File menu/import-export command.

The Silverfast application works fine independently of Photoshop. The SF Plugin was installed in the Applications/Photoshop (CS3)/Plugins folder (There is also a Twain module there), and the scanner bundles are in the Library/Application Support/Epson folder. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Silverfast (I'm practiced at this) but it still will not show up in the Photoshop menu.

The fact that the scanner works independently with Silverfast would suggest that there ought to be a simple fix to make it operate in Photoshop CS3 as it did in CS 2. If I remember correctly, previously in CS2 the SF plugin was located in Applications/Photoshop/Plugins/Photoshop Only/Plugins folder. Now the 'Photoshop Only' subfolder has been done away with in CS3. Is this correct?

Dear Felix.

Anything older than SilverFast 6.5x is not compatible under Photoshop CS3. Support for PS CS3 was implemented in version 6.5.
So this is not a bug or an error yet actually expected. This is due to the fact that PS switched to native support with CS3. You will need to upgrade to SilverFast 6.5 in order to get full support under PS CS3. Upgrades start from US$30,- as a download from our online store.

Best,
JAN

Thank you, Jan. That is what I needed to know. Will upgrade.
