SF 6.01r11 Demo / MacOS X 10.2 / Perfection 2450

SF can't find the scanner...

Epson Twain works fine, SF only works under 9.2. I tried USB and Firewire... Any ideas?

Thanks.

I had the same problem. Go to Epson's website. They have new drivers available, that will make Silverfast work. The usb works on mine, I don't have a firewire cable yet to test this function. Hope this helps.

ps. Let me know if it work's!

Thanks for the hint.

I forgot to mention that I'm running 10.2 (Jaguar). As far as I know, I already have the latest Epson Soft installed (Epson Twain 5.75 Trial 3), the one released a few days ago.

If you have seen something more recent, please let me know.

Same situation here...

Same for me. Installed latest demo and scanner not found, both USB and firewire. I've 10.2 and the latest epson driver that works perfectly with both firewire and USB.
Only way to try the software was restarting in OS 9.2.2 and use only USB. Firewire seems broken even in OS9... very sad, as I really need this software and I need to work with firewire and OS 10.2!

Maybe Lasersoft can tell us if they are aware of the problem and if/when we can expect a fix?

I've checked it quickly and SilverFast v6.0.1r11 has detected my Perfection 2450 connected via FireWire and using Jaguar without a problem, but I must admit: not right out of the box. The current SilverFast installer fails to install two required files to make USB and FireWire support working.
I will take care that a new demo installer will be available ASAP (hopefully by today).

So, where is the update

Postby ltitle » Fri Dec 20, 2002 2:55 am

Ralf,

I know we Mac OS X users are a small minority, but I am still anxiously awaiting a solution to avoid having to boot up in 9.2 to use your otherwise excellent software with my 2450 and Jaguar. Using the newest USB/firewire drivers, my computer still fails to recognize the scanner in OS X with firewire. Thank god, Apple is backing down on their threat to have OS X only machines as of January, as some companies are still way behind now !!!!!!!!!!

It works in Mac OS X 10.2.2!

SF should work just fine in 10.2.2 (it does for me, with FW and USB). Just remember to install the Epson drivers first.

help kitten,

Unlike you, I cannot get SF (6.0.1r40) to recognize my 2450 scanner while using OS X 10.2.3 with Firewire. It will work with the latest Epson Twain in PS 7.0 and OS X. But, I need to get it OS X ready, as I just ordered a 17" PB which will not be able to boot into OS 9. I have the Epson bundles in my Library under Applications Support.

Help.

Does Lasersoft regularly monitor this forum ? There seem to be many others still having the same problem ! :(

Strange, it works for me with this same setup.

But I just checked: apparentely, the EPSON folder must be under /Library/Application Support. The scanner is NOT recognized, if you installed it under /Users/USERNAME/Library/Application Support.

Hope this helps

Well - I almost had this mess working. After I went thru quite a few installs and uninstalls with 6.0.1r39, Perfection 2450, OS 10.2.2, Twain 5.75A and the Bundles stuff ..... NOW when I try to install SF .... goes thru the whole process, says the installation was successful - yet the plugin module does not show up in the "Import/Export" with Photoshop 7. (did before on the first install) Stand alone app works fine.
VERY frustrating.
