I recently purchased the E3200 and decided to get the full Silverfast primarily because it offers densitomer readings and I do my first basic edits by the numbers. I have been using v**s**n for years without a problem, although without the control SF appears to offer.
Unfortunately, with Auto on or fully manual, with profiling in place or absolutely none, and everything in between, what I see in my preview scan before isolating the image with a marquee is very often not what I get when a marquee is placed around it. For example, a green that measures 80, 60, 76, 39 becomes 80, 80, 34, 34. IOW Purple. Purple at every conceivable configuration. I have read the manual, every web site I can fiind, attempting every setting possible. I don't think I should be having to correct this much, and if I use Epson's own scan software, I get what I see.
My Epson 3200 is being identified as an Epson GT 9800. Is this the problem?

The GT 9800 is the internal name for the Epson Perfection 3200.
The colorcast is hard to get with this less information. Could you please check your CMS settings, and if you think, this is all right, please send a email to kristian.kratzenstein@silverfast.com with some screenshots / pictures, so I could check the behavior. At normal there should be no difference between preview and in endscan, if the CMS is correct set.
kind regards
