When using my v750 with epson scan, I can choose between "film with film holder" or "film with film guide" without a holder. As I understand, this selection determines whether the scanner uses it's super res lens or high res lens. However, in Silverfast I do not have this option. How do I insure that I'm using the super res lens when working in Silverfast?
thanks
mike

Dear Mike,
While scanning transparencies, you do have two different options (as in Epson software) to select in the transparency mode, you have transparency and transparency (full area). The first option allow you to scan using your film holders, the second option allow you to work with your film guide, note that the scanning area used with the film guide is bigger as that from the film holder, also the focusing point changes because the scanning material lies at different distances from the scanner bed.

Re: Selecting Lens with V750
Ok cool. So the super res lens is then employed using the "transparency" setting? Part of my confusion was over what actually makes the super res lens work. I've seen it written that that the super res lens only comes into play when the resolution is set at 6400. But I've also seen reviews that say the scanner can detect when a film holder is being used and automatically employs the super res lens. Sill not sure which is true. Does anyone know for sure?

Dear Mike
Please check the following link from Epson which explains more or less the technical specs of the Epson Perfection V750 Pro.

Other than what they state in their own website would be speculating
Thanks for your interest
Have a nice day
