Scanning Stamps with Epson Perfection 3170...

How does one setup/calibrate their scanner, monitor and printer for accurate scans of US postage stamps? Doing a book project for USPS and want to print to both RGB on an injet printer for home proofing and be able to send accurate CMYK files to the printer for the book. How do I setup the workflow? What SilverFast product would be best? We will be using Photoshop CS1. Any advice, books, tutorials, websites, CD-ROM's or DVD's are welcome. Thank you all! Donnie Dixon

At the very least you will need something like Monaco EZ to profile your printer. You can profile your scanner with the IT8 option in SIlverfast. You will also need something like a Spyder to profile your monitor. Have a gander at

If you are going to print yourself and you want to make sure you get the best colors your printer can offer I recommend obtaining a Spectrophotometer to accurately calculate your prints as well. These tools are not cheap, but if you want the best they will help you.
