I have an Epson 2450 and SilverFast SE. I am trying to scan a photo with a rough surface (some type of Kodak professional paper). The scanner picks up the surface texture and results in a scan that appears covered with dust.

Does anyone know how to overcome such a problem? I have tried:

1. Cleaning the photo and glass;
2. Applying pressure to the lid to make better photo-glass contact; and
3. Using the dust and scratches filter (which results in an unacceptable soft picture).

Thanks in advance,
Michael

Scanning Kodak non-glossy paper prints with SilverFast

In order to get rid of the discrete paper structures, similar to printing screen, select the de-screening from the SilverFast "Filter" menu.

Start with a 152 line screen and try with lower or higher screen to approach the best possible results.
