Scanning multiple images with Epson 3990 Filmstrip holders

Postby clafleur » Wed Dec 14, 2005 3:39 pm

Using Silverfast (Epson) (E-6.4.3r6b serial) on Mac OSX 10.4.3 with an Epson 3990 connected via USB. Have loaded negative color film in strips in the four row filmstrip holder supplied with the scanner. The Silverfast manual indicates there is supposed to be a button in the prescan window via which one selects the number of frames in the window for the software to scan individually (p. 215) but there is no such button in my version of the software (either launched free-standing or via Photoshop plug-in). It appears your can only select portions of the window using I need to have the software load each frame from the strips into separate windows in Photoshop for individual processing. I'll need to do this with slide film as well. The simple Epson software has no problem with this task. Where am I going wrong with Silverfast? Thanks for your help.

Hello clafleur,

This is not an automatic feature in SilverFast. On the General tab change the scan mode from normal to batch and then you will be able to drag selections around each frame. You will also be able to name each frame independently and adjust each one independently.
