I've been having problems with Silverfast6etc on Epson2450. (PIII800, 512ram, Win2KSP3).
description: After scanning, the dialog box with the aeroplane does not disappear, and when I close Photoshop by force and try again, whether within Photoshop or the standalone app of Silverfast, The scanner isn't found anymore.
Sometimes this happens right from the first scan, and sometimes I can make 7-8 scans before it happens. It also happens when I try to scan from the standalone version directly.
I use Silverfast from version 5 on the 1640Photo, and I never had this kind of problem before.
Thinking that something might be corrupted, I uninstalled the scanner completely, and now I want to reinstall, just to see whether it helps or not. Yet: do I have to install the Epson Twain software first before installing Silverfast? I never use it, and it confuses me in the Photoshop Import dialog.
(I already posted this message, but one way or the other, it mysteriously disappeared.)
Reinstalling the 2450: Silverfast alone, or Epson Twain firs

Dear Mr.Flyvbjerg,
As I did not have any problems with Silverfast 6 before, I did not suppose it had to do with Silverfast itself. Anyway: I did as you wrote, installed the Epson twain, and when that proved to work ok, I re installed Silverfast. Up to now, I did not have any problems (I only did a few test scans).
Thank you for your quick and useful reply, and I will certainly compare my version of S6 with the version that is online right now, and if the latter one is more recent, I will certainly download it.
Kind regards,
Erik

I must say that, unfortunately, I am facing the same problem. The Silverfast version I have now is 6.0.1.r31, photoshop plugin (I prefer using the standalone app) in Photoshop 7.01
Remarkable is that, when I use the standalone app from lasersoft, the image is indeed savedin the folder where I wanted it to be saved, but the "scanning..." window hangs, with rotating propellor...
Also, when reinstalling the SF6 plugin, my serial etc was remembered, just like as if I hadn't uninstalled it.
I checked at Epson's site, but there are no new drivers available.
I am downloading the newest version of SF6, and I will try it out.
I will also download and try the twain version in case the problem is still manifest.
If this also doesn't help, I will contact the support directly.
