Hello,
I have installed Ai Studio with IT8 calibration option (6.6.0r4c). Also I read the Ian Lyons's tutorial on SF color management (http://www.computer-darkroom.com/sf5-negafix/sf5_cms.htm) and the SF Color Management document. I have calibrated my Epson4990 flatbed scanner using the IT8 option and succesfuly created the corresponding profile. Profile was then installed in ..\spool\drivers\color (XP).
Now, what is working just fine: (A) - IT8 calibration was done manually (reflective IT8 target with CMS off as per Example 1 of Ian's tutorial. Then I made a plain scan (48-bit colour, 300dpi) and saved the created image as a tif file. I opened this file in PS CS2, assigned it the just created scanner profile and converted the image to Adobe98 color space (my working space).
What troubles me: to scan more pictures, I expect the SF Ai Studio to assign the scanner profile "on fly" and convert it to Adobe98 color space. To achieve that, I followed Example 4 of Ian's tutorial (CMS is on).
Scan Type: 48->24 Color
Input->Internal: ICM
Internal->Monitor: ICM
Internal->Output: RGB
Scanner(R): my created profile
Internal: AdobeRGB 98
Rendering Intent: Perceptual
Embed ICC profile: checked
What happens is that I have to again assign the scanner profile in CS2 and then convert it to Adobe98 in order to get the same RGB values as in case (A). Automatic assignment of the scanner does not happen. To exclude possibility of a bad scanner profile, I used several reflective profiles in section "Scanner(R)" including the SilverFast Epson4990 profile. Again, no profile assignment to my scanned image.
So the only way to get correct RGB values is to assign the profile in PS CS2 and then convert it it to my working space (as per A).
Anybody experienced this problem? How to get my (or any) scanner profile assigned during the scan?
Thanks,
Marcel Patek

Re: Problem - profile assignment during a scan??
I am posting an update on the issue and solution:
Uninstallation, registry cleaning and "fresh" installation of the Ai Studio solved the problem. Profiles are now correctly assigned to an image.
