Preview cropping incorrect

I am not sure if this has been discussed before but I am finding that the crop I perform in the preview box is not consistant with the finished image. After my preview scan I will normally edge in from the borders with the cropping tool to make sure I don't have any white borders showing. I will then scan the slide. However, after my scan completes and opens in Photoshop 7 I find that the crop has shifted over to the left. The result of this is that I see a white border on the right edge. Not a major problem but certainly frustrating after taking the time to set the controls only to find that you cannot use the image because of an incorrect crop. I have the most recent version of SE 6. Am I doing something wrong in my previewing?

could you please post a screenshot of the preview and the scanned image so that we can see what you see.
Also, please tell us what scanner and operating system you are using.
