I have an epson 4870 which combined with silverfast has worked really well on reflective media and neg film, however I tried this evening scanning slides but whatever setting of SilverFast (Epson-SE) 6.XX I try, the dark areas suffer greatly from posterization.
I have read some posts going back to 2002 with similar problems but I can't find the answer.
The scanner gives quality scans of slides using the Epson software but I would rather use SilverFast.
Does anyone know the answer?

Dear Peter,
At first, you could download the latest version from our website (use the auto-update from SilverFast).
If you have an Epson-SE version with color management, switch off the CMS settings in the "Options / CMS" tab for test purposes.
If nothing helps, contact our support team at:
https://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html

PS: You could also download and try a demo version of SilverFast Ai - 8 and 16 bits scans - and check if the problem remains. This could help the support team to solve the issue.
