Scanning slides with Silverfast produces images with noticable posterization. This is enhanced if I use unshap mask. I even see it if I scan using the HDR setting.
I do not see this if I scan the same image with the epson twain driver.
Whats the deal? So far I can't use Silverfast for this reason.
I'm running the latest version of Silverfast AI.

hi...i also have the very same proble...i have a 1650 su scanner...i get the same posterization when scanning negs and have no problem when using the epson twain driver...it seems to me that this is a new problem since i downloaded the newest update for nega-fix...it really makes the program unusable for me
Well, I just used the Epson TWAIN driver to scan one slide, and the result is a VERY GOOD color rendition. This compares with the woeful results using Silverfast.
Either I'm doing something wrong, or Silverfast 5.5ai does not work well with the Epson 1640XL. My next step is to ask Support directly.
Stay tuned.
