Operation of Silverfast with Photoshop CS

When I scan a photo with Epson Scan started from within Photoshop, the scanned file remains open in Photoshop after Epson Scan is closed.

Conversely, if I run Silverfast from within Photoshop, the scanned file is saved to disk, but does not remain open in Photoshop when I close Silverfast. I have to open the file using the File>Open command or the File Manager.

Is this normal operation for Silverfast when using the File>Import command of Photoshop?

Dear shileyd.

I guess you are working in "Normal (File)" mode.
To open the scanned image in PhotoShop directly please go to the "General" panel of SilverFast and select "Normal" as the "Process Mode".

Thanks Eric, that solved the problem. I looked everywhere but the obvious to find a setting that would change the behavior.
